Chester Roofing Experts terms and conditions of service.
All quotations provided by Chester Roofing Experts are written and itemised. Quotations are valid for 30 days from the date of issue. A quotation is not a contract — work commences only when you instruct us in writing or by telephone to proceed.
Our quotations are fixed price for the scope of work described. Where additional work is required due to genuinely unforeseen conditions discovered during the job — such as rotten structural timber not visible at the survey stage — we will agree the additional cost with you in writing before proceeding. We do not add uninstructed extras to invoices.
For larger jobs (re-roofing and flat roofing installations), we typically work on a stage payment basis: a deposit on materials ordering and the balance on satisfactory completion. The deposit amount is agreed in the quotation.
For smaller repair and maintenance work, payment is due on completion. We accept bank transfer and cheque. We do not accept cash-only payment requests — all transactions are documented and invoiced.
All roofing work carried out by Chester Roofing Experts is covered by a written 10-year workmanship guarantee from the date of completion. The guarantee covers defects in workmanship arising from our installation. It does not cover damage caused by subsequent events including storm damage, subsidence, third-party interference or failure to maintain the property.
Materials installed by us are covered by separate manufacturer warranties. GRP flat roofing systems carry a 20-year manufacturer guarantee. Lead and tile materials carry standard manufacturer terms. We will advise on applicable material warranties at the quotation stage.
Our liability for any claim arising from work we have carried out is limited to the value of that work. We are not liable for consequential losses except where required by law.
We carry £5 million public liability insurance. Our insurance details are available on request. We recommend that you notify your home insurer before any significant roofing work commences, as some policies require this.
If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of our work, please contact us in the first instance. We aim to respond to all complaints within 24 hours and to attend site within 5 working days to assess any workmanship concern.
Chester Roofing Experts is a member of the National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NFRC). The NFRC operates a conciliation service for disputes between its members and their customers. If we are unable to resolve a dispute directly, we will participate in NFRC conciliation on request.
